The Millionaire Mentor

The Millionaire Mentor Posted by Hello

A short little book with some great life lessons.

Pg 6 Where could you be tomorrow if you put your ideas into action today?

Pg 9 Dreams are realities on which you haven’t yet taken ACTION.

Pg 10 Never give up! The only two times you need to keep pushing on are: When you want to and when you don’t.

Pg 13 Our most valuable possession is the one that possesses us to share.

Pg 17 Before you can even hope to reach a goal, you first need to have one.

Pg 26 The difference between just trying to do something and actually doing it is found in the outcome.

Pg 44 You can do it. You will do it. Just shuck another oyster!

Pg 52 To get what you want, you first need to help others get what they want.

Pg 53 A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dream come true.

Pg 55 The true measure of a person’s integrity is the extent to which he or she is accountable.

Pg 66 We learn more about the character of people on one off day, than on all their on days put together.

Pg 78 You can fulfill your potential by focusing on and following your dreams. That’s where your purpose lies.

Pg 87 When you do what you love, and love what you do, you’ll have success your whole life through.

Pg 89 Things are the way you think they are, because you think they are that way.

Pg 91 Courageously step forward in faith, in spite of any fears. Your attitude is the main factor in your success or failure. So, make it a positive one.

Pg 95 All I want in life is to give my life my all.

Pg 96 In the end, the extent of our success will be measured by the accomplishments that we have helped create in others.

Scary Stuff

I did something today I've never done before and it was pretty scary. It had Conda & I both praying. I took my notebook computer apart and put a new heatsink in it. A heatsink is a devise that has a fan and coil made to drain the heat off the processer. Conda walked in, saw all the parts and went to pray. I had ordered a disk that was supposed to have a repair manual for my computer. It had hundreds of repair manuals but only had the owners manual for mine. It took a while and I did remove some things that I later found out I hadn't need to. When I finished, I didn't have any extra screws or parts, so I figured that was a good thing. Since I am typing this with it, I think it's going to work.

This Incredible Century

This Incredible Century Posted by Hello

Another book that I had before Amy left home. But I have read this one before. I recently picked it up for a few minutes reading and got hooked again. This is a great book for learning how people lived at the turn of the last century and lots of history over the last 100 years. Norman Vincent Peale met and knew so many great and famous people. You should read it.

$5000 loan

Dorthy Lindmark sent us this newspaper clipping.

A businessman walks into a bank in San Francisco and asks for the loan officer. He says he is going to Europe on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000. The bank officer says the bank will need some kind of security for such a loan.

So the businessman hands over the keys to a Rolls Royce parked on the street in front of the bank. Everything checks out, and the bank agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan. An employee drives the Rolls into the bank’s underground garage and parks it there.

Two weeks later, the businessman returns, repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $15.41.

The loan officer says, “We are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multimillionaire. What puzzles us is why would you bother to borrow $5,000?”

The businessman replied, “Where else in San Francisco can I park my car for two weeks for $15 bucks?”

Sin, Sex and Self-control

Sin, Sex and Self-control Posted by Hello

I just finished this book. Here are my notes:

Sin, Sex and Self-control
Norman Vincent Peale

As with most Norman Vincent Peale books, this is very well written and has great teaching. One thing that does confuse me though is that he comes across in a few places in the book as believing in evolution. How does a man that shows so much love for Jesus and spent his whole life teaching of His love, also believe in evolution. It seems clear to me that we were either created or evolved. Scientific facts are unable to support the theory of evolution. In fact; the facts tend to disprove it and support creative design. Then it leaves only one alternative; creation. But having said all that, I must say the book is certainly worth reading.

Pg 33 Be sure what you do is right, because if it isn’t right, it’s wrong, and no wrong ever turned out right. Harlowe B. Andrews

Pg 119 -121 Contains an experiment to save a marriage. It could and has worked.

Pg 153 Discipline is the price you pay for freedom.

Pg 183 Dr. Peale’s five wizard words. Get your mind off yourself.

Pg 186 Every word you utter, every deed you do—yes, every thought you think—has an effect somewhere.
